Job titles for beginners ...

Now don't we all like a title, a role or a description of what we do.

Am I a creative, manager, in leadership or a director and dreamer of dreams.

When you meet many of this title holders, it becomes rapidly apparent that their title (job role) has more to do with the way their employer has encouraged their self importance (in return for less cash I expect) rather than individual thinking.

So, national directors, regional managers, strategic liaisons be aware, the title belies an empire of paper that comes with ease and goes with speed.

Maybe I should become a strategic regional lead for ...

... nah can't be bothered.

But a US Government Accountability Office report has suggested that many in-flight wireless networks could expose the plane to being hacked or remotely controlled . In fact it’s of such a concern to US authorities that when a well-known computer security expert made an admittedly ill-thought-out joke about doing so on Twitter, he was promptly arrested, his computers confiscated, and subsequently banned from the airline . And all he was suggesting was to make the oxygen masks drop down. It is not about buildings ...

Recently I visited a Cisco Academy in London - located in what I can freely describe as a humble environ. However, the quality of the kit and the skills and motivation of the teaching team put it all into perspective. It really isn't about the buildings. Yes, in other roles - I have been to centres boasting the best/shiniest/fab new builds. Yet from the resource and mindset of those involved. I think that the modest building and the excellent team beats a pretty site any time.
