Motivating young people ...

Working with the @worldskills crowd is always a good thing and surprisingly something that is often missed by the mass media. Focussed on painting a dim view of our youth. Sometimes relegating these international events to the bottom of the hour slot or as local news, good news item. We have seen some of these souls, show us all that they are the best at what they do and proud (very proud) to represent their country.

If your sixteen year old, needs a little motivation, encourage them to go for gold. Medals are out there for carpentry, network engineering and hairdressing, amongst many (many) others.


The shame is, that unless our youth get into trouble. The chances are it will not make news. I do feel a sense of pity that my generation and older see fit to treat them this way. So if you see or know a young person working hard at college, give them a pat on the back.

But a US Government Accountability Office report has suggested that many in-flight wireless networks could expose the plane to being hacked or remotely controlled . In fact it’s of such a concern to US authorities that when a well-known computer security expert made an admittedly ill-thought-out joke about doing so on Twitter, he was promptly arrested, his computers confiscated, and subsequently banned from the airline . Looking back, 2014 was not a good year for keeping things safe under digital lock and key. If a score was being kept, it might seem that the cybercriminals are in the lead, despite the valiant efforts – and own goals – from the cybersecurity profession worldwide.
